It’s such a short walk to the beach that we don’t even use a vehicle to launch the dingy or kayak, we just walk it down and back. Matakatia Bay is very sheltered, so getting out on the paddleboard is easy. If ever the wind is blowing the wrong direction, we just walk over to Tindalls Bay.
Matakatia is a fantastic community. The local school, Whangaparaoa Primary, has been outstanding for our kids. There are also great fitness programmes in the area, where we have made awesome friendships. You also have to try the Italian restaurant in Manly!
