January 2015 saw a great start to the year in real estate on Auckland’s, North Shore.  Sales were up from 270 dwellings sold in December to 317 in January.  Nevertheless, we still have a shortage of listings and more buyers than homes for sale.

Takapuna saw a fall of 41% compared to December’s average sale price.  Bayview, Birkdale, Glenfield, Northcote and Birkenhead also saw a fall in average sale prices compared to last month.

Suburbs such as Hillcrest, Totaravale and Forrest Hill saw a rise compared to last month, and Beach Haven saw a rise of 18% bringing the average price close to $750,000.

The average days on the market increased in Auckland by 5 days.
